Happy Reading! 🙂
The photograph for this week’s prompt was taken outside a Sheffield pub, the Noose and Gibbet, where the notorious highwayman, Spence Broughton, was gibbeted after his hanging at York in 1792. As pub signs go, this macabre example is in a league of its own…. but it ceratinly attracts the attention of the casual passer-by, though I imagine it might spook a few unsuspecting visitors when darkness falls and the wind blows the cage…
With bars of illusion
The cage of perception
Pushed and pulled
The hanged man sees only bars
Not the space between.
